Zucchini Pasta Bar opens at 55 Degrees North

04.07.2017

A new Italian eatery has opened at 55 Degrees North in Newcastle City Centre creating six new jobs.

Zucchini Pasta Bar has agreed to a 10 year lease on a 1,900sqft ground floor retail unit, in a deal brokered by Naylors’ retail agency team.

The unit, which was formerly occupied by City Retreat, is next door to Asian fusion restaurant Fat Buddha and occupies a prominent corner position on the former Swan House Roundabout. The 55 Degrees North complex is managed by Naylors’ property management team on behalf of owners, Buccleuch Property. It also houses offices and apartments including the Metro Radio offices.

Zucchini is an Italian eatery that serves fresh hand-rolled pasta, using a combination of Italian imported produce and locally sourced ingredients with traditional practises.

Director and chef, Alan Barker hopes to establish Zucchini as a ‘go-to’ eatery for city centre office workers and passing trade, serving quality Italian food. Mr Barker said: “I’ve been planning Zucchini for a few years and believe there is a market for restaurant quality food during office lunch times, but with great value. Zucchini is the first fresh pasta bar in Newcastle, which sets it apart from other Italian eateries. All of our golden signature fresh egg pasta is handmade and hand-rolled on site with locally sourced eggs and Italian imported pasta flour.

We stick to traditional practises of fresh pasta making, which in turn enables us to provide a cheaper and higher quality plate of pasta for the customer.”

Zucchini is offering a fresh and simple menu, with a few twists and new dishes customers may not have tried before, which can be eaten in or taken away.

James Fletcher, commercial agency surveyor at Naylors said: “The Zucchini Pasta Bar concept is something new and exciting and we are confident it will be a great addition to the area. The position of the unit is highly visible for trade with office workers passing by on their way to and from work.

We are currently experiencing a high level of demand for retail and leisure premises and we are looking to secure further instructions to accommodate enquiries.”
